Tyrone turquoise is a rare, highly sought-after, and exceptionally hard American stone, typically featuring a vibrant, deep-to-medium blue color, often with a distinct golden or dark brown matrix. Mined near Silver City, New Mexico, since prehistoric times, this, "true" southwestern turquoise is scarce today due to commercial copper mining operations ceasing its production in the 1980s.
